IMPORTANT DETAILS
• For the new students and parents, this competition is unlike the others. There are two separate competitions in one day which makes for a very long day. Those schools who qualify at Championships (Division Finals) will advance to Grand Championships (State Finals). We are planning as if Saxon Regiment is advancing to Grand Championships as you will see on the attached schedule. We do not know our performance time at Grand Championships because the line up is based on random drawing which could be anywhere between 6:15pm & 8:15pm.
• Regarding feeding the students, our plan is to provide them with sandwiches and fruit upon arrival at the competition. After their Championship performance, we will provide granola bars, yogurt, and fruit. Due to the potentially tight schedule which depends on Grand Championships performance time, our plan is to feed dinner (pizza from outside donation) after their Grand Championships performance.
• An important note regarding Senior Circle: For new parents, Senior Circle is when the underclassmen perform the field show one last time for the seniors. It is a very special time for them because it honors the seniors and is a final wrap up to the marching band season. HOWEVER, again, due to the potentially tight schedule this Saturday, Senior Circle will be moved to the end of Champions Showcase on Monday, Dec. 2nd. A couple of advantages to waiting until this time is so that those senior parents and families who may not be able to attend competitions, can most likely attend the Showcase because it’s local at North High. Also, the Showcase performance will be Saxon Regiment’s true final performance which will making Senior Circle even more meaningful.

It takes a village to ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible for everyone. Please continue reading important information…..
Donations needed:
We are in need of food donations. These food donations need to be non-sugary food items such as sandwiches, yogurt, and fruit. We also need extra donations of Gatorade and water due to two performances.
• Remember we are supplying snacks and drinks for 80+ people (students, Mr. Smith, and coaches). Snacks and drinks can be dropped off on Friday after school until end of rehearsal or at calltime on Saturday. We also accept monetary donations for these items.
Volunteers needed
- We will need help loading the truck with equipment & props at North, unloading & reloading at Newport Harbor HS, and then unloading again at North. If you can help with any or all of these, please sign-up.
- We will need help moving pit equipment, drum major podiums, etc. from the staging area to the field for the performance and back after performance (same as is done for football games).
- If any volunteers are UNABLE to help at BOTH competitions, please let me know so I can schedule you accordingly.

Some things to consider for parents:
- You do not need to have experience to volunteer! There will be other parents on hand to show you what needs to be done….and we will need you more than every this Saturday!
- There is an entrance fee for all competitions. Per the CSBC website, Saturday’s competition is $20 for general admission and $15 for senior citizens & students with ID. Note: One wristband gets you into both competitions. All performing students are exempt from the fee.
- If you volunteer on competition day by loading/unloading, moving equipment, etc., it’s possible you will not have to pay the entrance fee but not guaranteed. Details will be explained on comp day.
- Be sure students have all uniform requirements listed above on comp day. Judges will deduct points from the performance if students are not wearing the required shoes, socks, etc.
